In
your session, you are given complete control to select the backgrounds, poses
and ideas you want. We do this so you get a session that reflects your taste,
instead of the taste of our photographers. When you are selecting your ideas,
you have to keep in mind the variety of people who will receive your Portraits.
You will be giving portraits to your friends at school and/or your
boyfriend/girlfriend, but you will also be giving portraits to your
Grandparents, aunts, uncles and family. What is suited for your
boyfriend/girlfriend, may not be the best selection for grandma.
While
many Seniors and friends like the look of full length portraits, most family
members will say that the face is too small when taken full length. And while
most Family members like head and shoulders portraits, taken in a more
traditional way, you and your friends might look at these portraits as boring.
To insure everyone is happy, select both types of portraits in your session. A
few ideas for family and a few ideas for friends and then make sure you select a
session that gives you the variety you need.
Variety
is another important part of getting what you what out of your session. Many
seniors pick too many ideas that are the same. If they have to select 5 ideas
for the session they have selected and they like black and white, they pick 4 of
their ideas in black and white. The one thing to keep in mind, is that each type
of portrait, (black and white, virtual backgrounds, outdoor, high-key/white
sets, ETC.) have a certain look. If you select the same type or style of
portrait for your entire session, you will have the same look and only the poses
will be different.
BE
REALISTIC..... as you select your backgrounds, poses and ideas. Many seniors
select ideas from the sample books, based on what the person in the portrait
looks like, instead of what they will look like in that pose. This works fine if
you have the same qualities as the person in the sample portrait. If you select
of a full length pose of a thin young lady in a sleeveless dress and you are
thin as well, you will be happy with the way you look in the pose. However, if
you worry about your weight, or the size of your arms, another pose or clothing
selection should be selected. The same is true for young men. You see a sample
of a muscular young man in a tank top holding a football, but you may be very
thin. The portrait will not capture the same look, so another type of clothing,
such as a letter jacket should be worn.
IF
YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT YOUR SELECTIONS, OUR PHOTOGRAPHERS WILL HELP YOU TO
INSURE YOUR IDEAS WORK FOR YOU. Another good idea is talk with the photographer
about any problems in your appearance that you are worried about. Also, get to
your session early, so you and your parent have plenty of time to decide on what
ideas you will do in your session. So you know the type of clothing to bring in
for your portraits, go to the "Suggestions" page and click on the type
of portraits you will be wanting to do. You can email or contact the
studio.
