Q.What rights do we have with regards to the photos?
A. Customers, who are commissioning
the work, are given unlimited use of the images to promote themselves.
Third party usage must be negotiated. Top |
Q.What is "Third Party Usage"?
A. Any person or company who
did not commission the work. Example: An interior is photographed for
the building owner. Rights to the photos are not given to the interior
designer, architect, builder or any other persons involved with the
building. Only the building owner may use the images to promote the space.

Q.When is payment due?
A. First time customers must pay upon
receipt of the images. Customers, in good standing, may take up to 30
days from invoice date to pay. Failure to pay within 30 days will
place the customer on C.O.D. for future assignments. Top |
Q.Who owns the actual photos?
A. Bob Oliphant Photography retains
ownership of all images created. The customer is granted usage rights.

Q.Can
the photographer use images that my company has paid for?
A. The photographer may use the images
for self-promotion and as examples of his work. The photographer will
not sell rights to anyone else without the written permission of the
original client.

Q.What
determines the format used in recording the image?
A. Usually, the final size of the image
determines this. A trade show image will require a larger format than
an 8"x10" final print. The other factor involved is
angle-of-view. Only large format photography offers perspective
control. Architecture usually requires a 4x5 camera while a small
products usually can be photographed in 35mm, digital or medium

Q.How
long before we get the images back from the lab?
A. Images that are exposed for inclusion
into a printed production are made with transparency (slide) film. Lab
time varies between 24 and 48 hours. Color negatives for prints
usually require an additional day. (business days only) Top |
Q.What
costs are considered expenses?
A. Film processing, Polaroid proof film,
special lenses, props, models, backdrops, travel more than 25 miles,
overnight accommodations, assistants, rental items, prints, etc. Top |
Q.Why
are the Polaroid proofs all in B&W?
A. We
have found that the black and white films can be exposed exactly the
same as the "real" film being used. Color proofing films are
not as accurate with film speed. Top |
Q.Can
we get a CD ROM with our images on it?
A. CDs are available upon request. Prices
vary depending upon the amount of images that need to be scanned and
recorded. Top |
Q.Are
there any discounts for multiple assignments?
A. Clients who book more than 3 days or
half-days at the same time are eligible for a 25% discount on the
labor rate for the third day. Top |

do we get images large enough for trade show displays?

you photograph anything other than products and architecture?
A. Public Relations / Event Photography,
Babies, pets, weddings, as per description on our web site etc. Top |
Q.When
should a digital camera be used for the final image?
A.
If
the images is intended only for Internet use or smaller than
5"x7" in a CMYK publication...a digital camera is the best

Q.Do
you offer a "Buy-Out" of any images?
A.
Some
images are available for buy-out. Please request this information at
the time of your initial call. Even though the image has been
"bought-out", Bob Oliphant Photography may continue to use
it as an example of their work within a portfolio piece. Top |

Q.Are
there any fees for cancellations?
A.
Notice
of cancellation less than 48 hours will result in a 50% charge for
original labor rate plus any costs incurred for materials. Notice of
cancellation of less than 24 hours will result in 100% of labor rate
